or anyone who’s had the privilege of
bushwhacking in the White Mountain National Forest (WMNF), you
know just how instrumental the trails really are. If you think our trails are rugged,
try pushing your way to the top of one of
our 4,000-footers off-trail, amid the “pencil woods”—conifers so dense you can’t
even turn around to quit … so you stand
there, angry, frustrated, almost sobbing.
“We feel the absolute best
way to give back is to make
a sweat-equity investment.”
Said owner Mike Cherim.
“It’s meaningful, and fun!”
Wishing desperately at that point that
you had a trail to walk on. Yeah, the trails
mean that much. That also means you’re
volunteering to help the trails.
Redline Guiding opened its doors
in October of 2016. Beginning in 2017,
Redline decided to host the event in order
to give back. Granted, there are many
trail-maintenance organizations and there
are many ways for people to give back—
ranging from adopting a trail of their
own to making a donation. “We feel the

interesting for us to do. In the past, we
have made progress on treadway and
corridor management, hauled and debarked logs, dismantled a bridge, relocated over 100 trees in an effort to reclaim
severely impacted areas, and more. This
is all important stuff, and without our
help, these tasks might be sidelined for
weeks, months, or even years.
