STUDENT PROJECTS
The local environment was on many students’ minds, and two groups took a deeper
dive into environmental issues. Ninth-grader Katie Laracy, from Fryeburg Academy, asked the question, “Clean Energy, How Easy Can It Be?” and Josiah Bartlett
Elementary School 8th-graders, Alda Du昀椀lho and Helen Glazer, studied the quality
of local drinking water with their project, “Drink Up: Assessing our Daily Drinking
Water Sources.”

Water is important because it brings nutrients
to our cells, protects
joints and organs, and
helps maintain good
body temperature.
Water keeps us happy,
healthy, and hydrated.
But what if the water
we’re drinking isn’t
good for us? We decided to find out.
Last year we did a
project on screen time

which is something that impacted our middle school community. This year we
also wanted to do a project that would have an influence on our local community,
