Animal Hospital share a mission rooted in compassion,
community, and caring for animals in need. Together, they
improve the lives of animals and the people who love them,
ensuring that every pet receives the medical attention, shelter,
and love it deserves.
The Conway Area Humane Society (CAHS) is a community of
volunteers, staff, and supporters dedicated to promoting animal
welfare. Thanks to the tireless work of supportive community
members, CAHS opened its doors in June 2003. Founded on the
belief that every animal deserves a second chance, CAHS has
been a pillar of the Carroll County community for over 20 years.
The organization provides shelter, medical care, and adoption
Since opening, CAHS has placed over ten thousand animals.
They could not have accomplished this without community
support. They rely on donations to care for all animals, maintain
facilities, and much more. The Conway Area Humane Society
hosts three major annual fundraising events: Be a Humane Hero
Dinner & Auction, Bark in the Park, and Putt for Pets. Without these events, their sponsors, and their supporters, CAHS
couldn’t continue their mission.
CAHS aims to be a pivotal part of the community. The addition of the Valley Animal Hospital (VAH) in 2024 demonstrates
this. The mission of the Valley Animal Hospital is to make
medical care for beloved pets more accessible to all pet owners.

services for hundreds of animals annually, offering them a haven until they find their forever homes.
Beyond adoptions, CAHS engages in community outreach,
educational programs, and advocacy for animal welfare. Their
work includes rescuing animals from neglect, providing emergency medical services, and working with local law enforcement
to ensure that animals in distress are given a new lease on life.
CAHS also offers unique programs that benefit both animals
and the people who care for them. These programs include
their pet food pantry, temporary boarding for families in crisis
(safe haven program), lifelong friends program connecting
seniors with senior pets, and partnerships with local schools to
help create a more compassionate and informed community.

Dr. Leo is a Kennett High School Graduate and a Conway
native who received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical year at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.
In collaboration with CAHS, VAH provides critical veterinary
care to rescued animals at the shelter, ensuring they receive necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and medical treatment
for injuries or illnesses. VAH is essential in preparing animals for
adoption and giving them the best possible chance at a new life.
VAH is deeply involved in the community, offering affordable veterinary services, educating pet owners on responsible
