inter of 2024/25 is upon us. Many of us Valley dwellers have been daydreaming of the morning we finally
wake to find a frosted playground at our doorsteps, and
although the Mt. Washington Valley has epic summer and fall seasons, many of us are secretly waiting to gear up and hit the mountains for the region’s favorite pastime: skiing and snowboarding!
North Conway and surrounding areas boast seven alpine and six
Nordic areas—all within an hour of one another—that cater to
the winter adventurer and provide access to incredible terrain,
as well as provide entertainment in the form of après ski. Après
ski is a French term for “after ski,” which is the social activity that
people enjoy, quite literally, after skiing. Après generally includes
they offered—and why I believe they are onto something special.
I spoke with owner/operator Jeremiah Beach about Pro
Tune, which, according to Jeremiah, was born in 2017. He and
his wife Julie had returned to the East Coast after many years
out west, and brought some of their experiences and knowledge
with them. They met in 2000 and subsequently worked together on many jobs, including The Red Jersey Bike Shop, Planet
Bluegrass, and the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. At
these places, Jeremiah provided several services, including highend bike and ski maintenance, kitchen services, and catering.
All while working at these locations, Jeremiah fell in love with
many of the musical acts that made their way through; he found
Jeremiah, Julie, and their team of professional ski and bike techs have provided a location
that has the soul of an Irish pub, with a nonchalant and relaxed vibe, the homeyness of ham
sandwiches and soup, the fun of live entertainment several days a week for après ski (as well as
evening entertainment), and the high-end technical prowess of an Olympic cycling/skiing team.
meeting with your party in the resort’s dining area and sharing
food, beverages, music, and recollections of the day. Many local
pubs and restaurants not located directly at a resort also participate in après, so be sure to check your local listings to find times
and locations that offer après ski vibes.
With that being said, the combination of riding along with an
exciting and engaging after-ski party truly makes the Mt. Washington Valley a special place. There are many places in town, and just
on the outskirts of town, that cater to these events, and many have
realized the need to combine services that may seem odd—but in
reality, are genius together! One such location is aptly called Pro
Tune and is located on Route 302, in Glen. This place offers a pub
environment with a small lunch menu, music, and all while they

the connection of outdoor sports and live performance to be an
integral part of his world.
Jeremiah was working for the U.S. Paralympic team at the
2010 Vancouver Olympics, and he was diagnosed with a form of
Leukemia in August 2011. However, he underwent full treatment,
including a bone marrow transplant, and has since been in
remission. He was weakened for nearly two years, and has fought
to regain his life. Although there are still fights, he said, “We are
lucky to be where we are. Very fortunate.”
Fast forward a few years, and Jeremiah and Julie look back
on their experiences, which include raising three boys, managing
multiple layers of sport and food, and fighting personal health
issues, and decided to return to New England to incorporate a
bit of all they had learned and experienced from their time out
