www.slednhs.com • 22 ratings • .8 stars
In partnership with local clubs
of the association and the NH
Bureau of Trails, the SledNH
map is the most up-to-date
map of NH snowmobile trails.
The app provides access to
detailed trail maps and navigation features, allowing users to
easily navigate the extensive
network of snowmobile trails
across the state, even when
offline due to limited mobile
data coverage; essentially
acting as a personal trail guide
while riding a snowmobile in
New Hampshire. No cell service
needed to pinpoint your exact
location and load routes. Offers
7,000 miles of NH snowmobile
club trails in the palm of your
hand. Repurchase updated
map each year.
In the same way that hikers
like to track miles, speed, and
elevation gain with AllTrails,
those who ski or snowboard
like to track vertical. Ski Tracks,
a tracking app for skiers, is
great for keeping track of your
vertical, as well as the elevation and altitude of where
you’re riding downhill. John
Hartman, an expert skier who
goes heli-skiing every winter
in British Columbia, likes that
this winter sport app tracks
vertical, speed, and allows
users to go into their history
to see every run they’ve
done on a specific mountain.
Hartman also uses Ski Tracks
while hiking to check the
elevation.

AllTrails - (IOS, Android: $35.99 per year for premium)

With its offline maps, trail
recommendations, and
outdoor community, AllTrails
has become one of the most
popular outdoor apps for
hikers, bikers, and runners.
In 2023, Apple named it the
iPhone App of the Year.
With AllTrails, users can write
trail reviews, post recent photos, and record their activity,
such as elevation gain, calories burned, and total versus
moving time. By paying for
premium, users can download and use maps offline,
which allows them to track
their signal, get alerts when
they take a wrong turn, and
track miles on trail. The app
is great for finding the most
popular, top-rated trails in a
specific area and to determine
their difficulty and length. It is
great for planning trips ahead
of time, from local walks to
international hikes.
Overall, AllTrails is an easyto-use navigation app, but it
is not always accurate with
its total mile calculations.
This past November, AllTrails
tracked my total miles to
Mount Madison via Valley
Way and Osseo Trail at 7.9,
but it’s actually closer to 8.4.
This may make it difficult to
plan how long a hike will take.
