taught horseback riding at a camp in Freedom in the 40s.
The kids he coaches on the race team are 10- and
11-year-olds, an age that Macdonald enjoys teaching. And
he finds satisfaction in guiding older skiers, as well. “Timid
adults are rewarding to teach because they usually find out
that they are capable of more than they thought possible.”
Macdonald hopes to continue as long as possible. “The
goal is always to help new and experienced skiers love
skiing even more, and to make ski friends,” he said. “Skiing
gets better and better as the terrain and conditions that
seemed ‘too hard’ become fun to ski. Ski friends are for life,
and every day on skis is a gift.”

MWV area, each year!
